A letter from our Principal & Director

April 2, 2020

On the order of the Governor of Texas announced Tuesday, March 31, ALA will remain closed through the end of the school year. It is important to support the efforts of our local and national health and government officials to limit the spread of COVID-19. Those officials report that we have not yet seen a peak in the number of new cases of the virus, and we must continue to limit contact with others to protect the most vulnerable in our community.

We will be monitoring the CDC's further guidelines at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19

We know that this closure is difficult for families, for students, and for our staff. Everyone wants to get back to the normal routine as soon as possible, but safety must take priority. ALA extends its sincere appreciation to all of our staff members for their extraordinary response to this unprecedented situation. Many of them are working longer hours and meeting new challenges in real-time and innovative ways to ensure that education continues. Those efforts are not unnoticed. They are nothing short of remarkable. Thank you once again for all that you are doing during this difficult time.

Blessings,

Jennifer Helten, Director

March 20, 2020

We are continuing to be proactive based on the advice of healthcare professionals within our community, and beyond.  We understand this may present a significant challenge for families who may need childcare, but to re-open at this point would be against expert advice we have received and potentially expose families unnecessarily. We are, however, planning a tentative return date of April 6th, 2020.

Monday, March 23rd, 2020, we will begin our Virtual Classroom teaching. All families will be able to pick up their student's materials on Saturday, March 21st, between 1:00 pm-2:30 pm.

Upon return to school, we have protocols in place to ensure health and cleanliness within our campus.  We will also continue to work closely with health department officials to navigate this changing situation.

We will be monitoring the CDC's further guidelines at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

As of today, there are no known cases of COVID-19 in our ALA family.  We ask that you continue to pray for the protection of ALA Families, and any families that are currently experiencing this virus across the world and for the spread of this virus to end.

Thank you to so many of you for reaching out and wanting to help ensure the protection of ALA staff, students and their families.  It truly is a blessing for us to serve your family.

Blessings,

Jenny Helten, Director

Melissa McGowan, Principal
